From £50 in a garage
to a community movement.
2008Where it started
In 2008, Mike started with just £50. He was working full time as a joiner, living week to week with very little money. He bought Flossy shoes from a man in Sunderland who imported them from Spain and started selling them from car boot sales and from his garage at home.
At his first car boot sale at Redcar Racecourse, he sold out in minutes. Other stall holders could not believe it. That £50 start became the foundation of everything he has built since, including Mas Body Gym and Macro Based Diet, and the thousands of people he has helped through fitness, nutrition, business, charity work and community support.
Mike was awarded an MBE for services during Covid, but he has always said that honour belongs to everyone who showed up when it mattered.
The comeback
Over the past two years Mike and his family have been through serious stalking, harassment, online abuse, false allegations and an arson attack at the family home while his children were asleep inside. It pulled him back from a lot of the charity and community work he loved doing.
50.FORWARD is the answer to that. It is about taking something painful and turning it into purpose. Starting small, building it up, and proving in public that good people, working together, still change lives.
